Instruments handcrafted in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Luthier

Kyle Landers,

Luthier Kyle Landers sitting on a stool in his workshop, surrounded by woodworking tools and decor.

For Kyle, building instruments is more than craft - it is a lifelong devotion. A Western North Carolina native, Kyle began his luthier journey at just 13, building mountain dulcimers. He credits his love of the craft to his then music teacher, Ken Schoewee, who introduced him to to what soon became his calling.

  • "Kyle Landers made me a custom open-back banjo last year and I can't say enough good things about it, him, and the whole process. It's a fully mahogany old-time style banjo with a skin head and it makes my heart sing every time I pick it up. It sounds like a mossy creekside where two mountains meet. I love everything about it."
